A gingivectomy takes between half and a full hour. Typically, the total treatment time reflects the amount of gum tissue that must be removed.

The following is how a gingivectomy (or crown lengthening) procedure works:

• Health check: Dr. Adelpour will inspect the health status of your gums, tooth roots, and other features.
• Treatment Planning: If they are healthy enough to undergo laser gum treatment, he will create a tailored treatment plan with you using our Smile Design software.

One advantage of laser gum surgery is that there’s virtually no recovery time. While you might feel slightly irritated once the numbing agents wear off, that’s about it. Because lasers simultaneously remove and cauterize the surgical site, you don’t have to worry much about inflammation or edema (the top two culprits for discomfort during traditional gingivectomy recovery).
