Dental Crowns
in Los Angeles, California

When your teeth are severely damaged or decayed, daily activities like eating and speaking can become complicated, potentially taking a toll on your self-esteem. At BLVD Dental Aesthetics in Mid-Wilshire, Dr. Daniel Adelpour can restore the appearance and function of a tooth with a dental crown. We combine natural-looking general dentistry techniques and state-of-the-art dental technology to make your smile beam with pride again.

What is a dental crown?

A dental crown is a tooth cap cemented on top of teeth. Commonly, dental crowns are used to restore, replace, or protect an injured tooth for improved function and appearance. While there are many types of crowns, we typically suggest ceramic crowns for a seamless, lifelike appearance.

Signs that You Might Need a Dental Crown

Could a tooth crown improve your health and wellness? Here are a few signs that you could use a dental crown:

  • An extensive cavity that is too large for a filling but doesn’t need to be extracted
  • Severely worn-down teeth
  • Weakened teeth
  • Cracked teeth
  • After root canal therapy

Dental Crown Placement Expectations

Typically, Dr. Adelpour can install a traditional tooth crown in two office visits, and here’s a typical timeline of a dental crown procedure:

  • Examination: Dr. Adelpour will perform a physical examination of the tooth in question. This might include taking digital x-rays and testing the health of the tooth in other ways.
  • Preparation: If needed, our minimally invasive dentist will use lasers to quickly remove any unwanted or infected tissue.
  • Digital impressions: Then, our dentist will use the iTero 5D scanner to create digital impressions of the prepared and surrounding teeth in a more comfortable way than traditional dental molds.
  • Temporary crown placement: Dr.  Adelpour will place a temporary crown to protect the tooth until the permanent crown is placed.
  • Lab creation: Lab technicians will craft a custom-made crown within a few weeks.
  • Second visit: When the crown arrives at our Wilshire Blvd office, we will call you back for a second visit so that Dr. Adelpour can bond the dental crown.
